About Us

ERKE is one of the leading companies in Turkey that provides services in electrical project design and lighting consultancy and expert in green building consultancy services, with human health and environmental awareness.

ERKE, which provides green building education in order to increase the awareness of green building applications and increase consciousness in our country, has made a first in Turkey by putting forth its consulting and engineering experience with ERKE Green Academy project.

The most important feature of the project, which received LEED Platinum and BREEAM Very Good certificates according to the world´s most prestigious green building grading systems, is the demonstration of a reference building with a very large product range that combines materials and systems that can be used in green building projects. The building, which carries the character of a green building laboratory with all best applications samples, is open to all participants of trainings and visitors who are interested in the subject.

At the same time, the building were chosen as the “Greenest Building” category in the “Sign of the City Awards” competition which is the Real Estate Sector´s Most Prestigious Awards took place under the leadership of Hürriyet.

About ERKE Green Academy Project

The project theme is to renovate an existing building built in 1980s with a 400 m2 construction area in Üsküdar with a contemporary architectural understanding and at the same time to be awarded the highest level green building certificates. The building sits on the north-south side of the ground, and the most important element in its immediate vicinity is the view of the grove opposite the southern ceiling. Looking at other constructions, villa housing sites, restored old buildings, and an enclosed environment with very different approaches to each other are available.

The highest priority architectural approach based on this structure and environment has been the principle of preserving existing constructions as much as possible, which is of great importance in the criteria of green building. Therefore, the most decisive factor in the direction of the concept was the present building itself. From this point of view, the main design criterion has been to obtain a contemporary and radical architectural mass by dressing a monolithic shell in this structure with only the necessary interventions for rehabilitation in the existing structure. This shell consists of 3 design criteria; Zinc coating on the anthracite in the facade and on the roof, a white mesh covering on the facade (the south face) which will create contrast with the dark mass as well as being used as a shade, and a glass tube that will provide natural ventilation with a chimney effect. Structural interventions include using steel roof instead of the unhealthy roof, rebuilding the windows in order to open the maximum holes on the southern side for the view of the grove and rebuilding the windows to take advantage of the architectural design daylight at the highest level on the east-west facades. In this way, the existing building in the new crust is protected by 60{%}. The floors in the project are separated by functions. There is a seminar / meeting room for training on the roof and there are open office areas and executive offices on the ground and first floor. The basement floor is designed as multipurpose meeting rooms, office space, kitchen / recreation area and parking.

Resting and parking areas outside of the building mass are covered with green roof. It was possible to carry the daylight to the darkest spot in the basement with the skylight in this green roof.
